It’s Black And White
Simplifying. I was talking to my very talented and good friend Robert a few nights ago. He said “I want to see more black and white.” Ok. I started mixing and pouring.
Not so easy. I follow so many acrylic pour artists on YouTube. I could watch paint being poured on a canvas for hours. It seems so easy until you mix the paint and start to try and create some of the simple, beautiful designs that experienced artists create.
So many factors go into each design. One slight change affects the whole painting. Viscosity, paint brands, whether you add water or not, how you pour. So many adjustments you can make.
A very clean minimal design in neutral colors is what Robert prefers and since this is something I’d like to master, I look to him for guidance. I haven’t quite mastered the mixing of the paint which makes it very difficult to control from one canvas to another. Making something clean and simple is especially difficult for me.
Today’s experiments did not turn out the way I wanted them to but I did learn a few things and I got some pretty cool effects in the paint. Of course on the last one, I had to add a little bit of my favorite blue. It just makes me happy. So, overall it was a good day.
