Coasters
The first thing I learned to do with my saw was cutting these little squares to make coasters. At first I was burning the wood. I’m not burning much at the moment. I wear a respirator but sometimes I have to take a break from the smoke and the sore neck for awhile. So, I have a stack of wood squares already cut and I’m trying to use up things that are taking up space in my art room. Hmmmm…..
Paint! I LOVE paint!! I’ve been wanting to paint canvases but it’s tough to just paint a canvas without a plan. Sometimes I sketch an idea out in my sketch book or old mail, a napkin at a restaurant. Whatever happens to be within reach when an idea pops into my head. I don’t know why I didn’t think of this before! I’ll test a plan by making a tiny version on the wood that I cut for coasters.
Brilliant! If I may say so myself. Not only can I play with composition but I can also practice my skills before I use a canvas or board on a larger scale. This is going to be fun!
Sneak Peek anyone? I’ve added a picture of the first attempts. I am loving these coasters and before I can finish these, the friends and family are already claiming their Christmas gifts.
The finished product will be coated in epoxy and cork will be added to the bottom. It will be a few weeks before they are added to the store but I’m pretty sure you’ll see a bunch of these since they will be cheap and easy to ship.
