A Night of Celebration at the Winterfest Boat Parade Awards
View photos of our evening below.
Wednesday night, I had the pleasure of attending the Winterfest Boat Parade award ceremony and dinner, and it was such a wonderful experience. After months of planning, decorating, and coordinating, it was incredible to see everyone come together to celebrate another successful year.
What is the Winterfest Boat Parade?
For those who may not be familiar, the Winterfest Boat Parade is one of the most anticipated holiday events of the season. Often called the “Greatest Show on H2O,” this annual tradition has been lighting up the waterways for over 50 years. The parade features a dazzling lineup of decorated boats, from small private vessels to massive yachts, all decked out in holiday lights, music, and creative themes. More than a million spectators line the waterways, while thousands more watch live broadcasts, making it one of the largest boat parades in the country!
Bob’s Award for the 12 Dinghies of Christmas
One of the highlights of the evening was seeing my husband, Bob, receive an award for his participation in decorating the 12 Dinghies of Christmas. He’s been involved in this event many times over the years and absolutely loves it. Whether it’s stringing lights, adding festive touches, or just being part of the creative process, he pours so much heart into it. Seeing his hard work recognized was such a proud moment!
Experiencing the Parade – On the Water or the Shore?
For several years, we were lucky enough to be invited to ride on a boat in the parade, which was an unforgettable experience. The view from the water, surrounded by glowing lights and festive energy, is something truly special.
Lately, we’ve chosen to watch from the riverside, and honestly, it’s just as magical from the shore. Whether you’re on the water or taking in the spectacle from land, the energy, lights, and festive spirit make it an amazing event no matter how you experience it.
More Than Just a Parade – A Celebration of Community
Beyond the awards and recognition, the best part of the night was simply being surrounded by people who share a passion for this tradition. It’s events like these that remind me how important community is—how working together can create something magical that brings joy to so many.
As I left, I couldn’t help but feel inspired. Winterfest isn’t just about the parade itself; it’s about the people, the memories, and the excitement of looking forward to next year. Here’s to another year of creativity, teamwork, and the magic of the holiday season!
