This was an interesting week.

It’s funny how life works. I touched on this in my Beginning Again in 2024 post. I’ve planned for years starting around November for the upcoming year. I love a good fresh start. I think and plan. Plan and think. I get rolling on January 2nd with my new plan and schedule and by the second or third week in January, I decide, it wasn’t a reasonable plan and life just doesn’t work the way I want it to. Then I struggle all year and do it all over again the next November.

This Year

This year, I decided to create art for myself. To use colors that I love and paint things I want to learn to paint and master. No worries about the future. Just let things flow.

Well, roll me in butter and call me a biscuit! I’ve done more this year than I have in the past 10 years!! I’m feeling very impressed with myself. Now, I’m not bragging. I know I’m still hovering around level 1 as an artist, but I’ve moved into territory I thought I would never get into.

YouTube

I know it's completely normal to feel nervous about putting myself out there, especially in a visual medium like video content. Starting a YouTube channel is a big step, and I’ve tried a few times. This time I decided to push past my fears and do it anyway.

It’s a scary situation!

I’m stepping out of my comfort zone, and it is scary, but I know it will lead to personal growth and new opportunities. I’m embracing the nerves and uncertainties that come with starting a YouTube channel but if I can ignore that egoic voice that plays constantly in the back of my head, I know it will turn out to be a good decision and hopefully, easier than I anticipated.

The Plan

The plan is to be myself when creating content that I have a passion for. I know over time, as I become more comfortable in front of the camera, my confidence will grow, and I will find my tribe who will appreciate my honest approach.

Little Fish in a Big Pond

YouTube has creators that have been doing this for years and have mastered the art of creating videos and building their brand. I know almost nothing about art or creating content for YouTube and less about brand building. That being said, the thing that I am really excited and curious about is, how fast can I learn and what opportunities will arise. My only goal is to do what I love and that it will pay enough to pay the few bills that I have. That is happiness.

“Choose a job you love and will never have to work a day in your life.” Confucius.

The Advantage

There is an advantage I believe I have in starting at zero. I will be able to show my progress and evolution from the very beginning. Yes. I have already been painting for years and I’ve learned some things along the way. However, I’m self-taught and I’ve only just begun really focusing on what I’m trying to learn. The last few years I’ve painted and crafted a little here and there in my spare time. Now, it’s go time! Nothing but Art and YouTube. Full time! I mean I have a few things going on like beautiful grandbabies and housewifing and some very loyal nail clients who are now my very good friends. I love and appreciate all and will not slack on my existing responsibilities but……

Becoming an artist with a channel to share my journey and record my progress is now what I will be focusing on for the future. It is what I want to do in the last quarter phase of my life. When Bob retires, we will be able to take it on the road and I will travel and create. See the world. Put it on a canvas.

What can you do to support me? Or any other artist for that matter.
